NYC Offers Free ID Cards

Do you or someone in your family need an official ID? New York State is now distributing municipal identification cards to anyone 14 and older, and for free, as part of their IDNYC program. Today you need ID virtually anywhere you go. So why not have an easy and sure way to prove who you are? Whether it is renting an apartment, opening a bank account, entering any NYC building or purchasing an insurance policy, an official document of identification will be needed. Here’s your opportunity to find out how to apply for one.

These ID cards are currently in such high demand that you now need an appointment to apply for one. Click here to book your appointment online or you can simply dial 311. Please note you will need three “points” of documents to prove your identity and residency in NYC. The application is available in 25 different languages and can be filled out within several locations in the five boroughs.
