Keeping You Safe, Happy and Healthy On St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) is a great day to wear your green and celebrate with family and friends. In addition to enjoying the warm company and all of the festive food and drink options, it’s important to do all you can to keep yourself and those around you as safe as possible!  We are here to assist you in enjoying the holiday, by sharing some safety tips and reminders.

Personal Liability:  Are you hosting a home gathering this year? Do you have enough liability? Personal Liability protects you if you are found legally responsible for injuring someone else or damaging someone’s property. Please keep in mind that personal liability laws vary state by state. Familiarize yourself with the laws beforehand so that you know what to pay close attention to as the party progresses.

Know the Alternative Ways To Get Home: If you plan on meeting friends out at a local bar or restaurant, it’s always best to make sure there’s a designated driver in your party to get you home safe and sound after a fun night. Alternatively, you could also keep numbers of cab companies handy and plan ahead by downloading a ride sharing app. If taking the train back home, make yourself aware of the return schedules beforehand and travel in groups.

Stay Nourished and Hydrated: While celebrating the holiday, there will be plenty of festive drinks to enjoy, such as green beer. As you get into the true spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, you can balance your alcohol intake with treats that are just as trendy! Extra nutrients will help you absorb the alcohol, so snack on something beforehand or see if your establishment offers holiday staples such as Irish soda bread, corned beef and cabbage. It’s also crucial to drink plenty of water throughout the night.

Remain Attentive On the Road: Avoid drinking and driving. If you happen to be your group’s designated driver, keep your eyes peeled for unsafe operators. If you suspect someone of drunk driving, keep as far away as possible from the vehicle and take the opportunity to pull over and call 911 to share as many details as you can.

Green beer, corned beef, and fun with family and friends! St. Patrick’s Day usually calls for all these great things and more! If you remain mindful of the above safety tips and reminders, you’ll be well on your way to staying safe while enjoying the holiday!
