Welcome to Susan Dembo Acupuncture! For over nine years Susan has been offering acupuncture to people in Oyster Bay, NY and the surrounding communities. As a licensed and board-certified Acupuncturist, Susan provides acupuncture therapy with an unwavering commitment to excellence.
All treatments are individualized to meet the physical and emotional needs of each patient in order to bring the body back into balance and restore good health. By intertwining her training in Chinese Medicine with her graduate studies in biology, Susan is able to bring together an eclectic mix of perspectives on health and wellness that bridges the gap between Eastern and Western medicine.
Susan has created a relaxing and soothing environment where healing can blossom. Her office has two private treatment rooms filled with soft music, heated treatment tables, fluffy blankets, and attractive artwork. The calm mood is enhanced by the soft aqua colored walls that are reminiscent of ocean tumbled sea glass.

Susan’s patients enjoy coming to her office in the historic hamlet of Oyster Bay, home of President Theodore Roosevelt. There is convenient street parking as well as a free municipal parking lot behind the building.
Susan is highly skilled at utilizing several different styles of acupuncture. However, after apprenticing for three years under the guidance of a master acupuncturist who practiced Classical Japanese Style Acupuncture, Susan has embraced the Japanese style as the foundation of her treatments. When compared to other styles of acupuncture such as TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), Japanese Acupuncture is characterized by the use of thinner needles, shallower needle insertion, and gentler needle manipulation.
Susan also specializes in a Japanese technique called “rice grain moxibustion” that stimulates acupuncture points with heat generated by burning the herb mugwort. Moxibustion is effective in relieving pain, reducing inflammation, strengthening the immune system, increasing blood flow, and balancing the autonomic nervous system.
